Mission Corner
West Africa
2019’s highlight was the Mission Trip undertaken by a team of three men led By Pastor Stephen Apouvi from the United States to the west African nations of Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Togo in late October and November. The purpose of this trip was to oversee LIM’s ministry efforts in those countries, encourage our field missionaries, and strengthen the body of Christ.
SIERRA LEONE
The team first visited Freetown. They held a workshop on preserving sound doctrine in the church and pastoral ethics for leaders and workers of local and regional Evangelical and Pentecostal churches and students from Timothy Bible School (TBS), an LIM ministry. This was a three-day affair from 11-14 November.
The ministry headquarters showed its support to TBS through gifts of graduation gowns, a laptop, a printer, and various study materials. The team also conducted revival services at the sites of participating churches over a two-day period. Many testified of the mighty wave of God's power through numerous reports of salvation, deliverance, and healing.
Finally, the team visited an orphanage in Freetown run by a missionary from Monrovia who left there because of the political turmoil and accompanying violence. The team interacted with the children through prayer and song and gave them many necessary gifts of food, beverages, and items for personal hygiene. The team shared the Good News of Jesus Christ and prayed with the orphanage staff.
GHANA
In conjunction with Rev. Joshua Tamakloe of the Assemblies of God Church in Aflao, the team organized and conducted a three day ministers' conference. Its goal was to equip ministers on how to protect the Church from demonic infiltration. Guest speakers included Bishop Seth Ametedor of Christ-Is-The-Same Church and Dr. Kwesi of the school of education at the University of Accra. Study bibles with concordances and chain-references were presented to the participants, but unfortunately forty did not receive one because of a shortage. LIM promised these people they would get their study bible when the team returned to the United States.
TOGO
The climax of the mission trip was at Lome, Togo. A week-long event was held at the home church of Christ Revealed Fellowship. This included leadership training, revival services, and the grand finale of an ordination service. After being examined by the Council of Senior Ministers, which included Pastors Joshua Tamakloe, Kenny Alele, and Stephen Apouvi, two men concluded three years of training by being publicly acknowledged and commissioned by the Council to care for God's flock as pastors.
Improvements were made to the church building itself. The main floor was completed and a toilet system installed for use by both church and school.
None of these accomplishments would have been possible without your prayers and financial support. The LORD used your resources to bless people, touch lives, and empower His church. May the Lord bless you for your generosity (Prov. 11:24-25).
